Prospective Adjunct and Affiliate Faculty
Thank you for your interest in applying for an Adjunct or Affiliate Faculty position in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health (ObGyn). All appointments are determined by the Chair of the Department of ObGyn, with recommendations from the Adjunct Clinical Faculty Steering Committee (Adjunct) or Promotions and Tenure Committee (Affiliate).
An adjunct faculty member is a clinician who makes an academic contribution to the department through research or teaching and meets the department criteria for adjunct faculty. Adjunct faculty status is sufficient for most appointments. Those not working on rotations with residents and medical students have additional teaching opportunities available, including:
- Breast/Pelvic Teaching Workshops
- Problem Based Learning with medical students
- Preceptor medical students
- Rural Physician Associate Program (RPAP)
- Monday Didactic Conference
- Skills workshop for residents
An affiliate faculty member works at an affiliated site and supervises rotations and evaluations with medical students and/or residents. In addition, affiliate faculty members are required to have substantial academic responsibilities within the department, have a scholarship development plan, work with an academic mentor (for junior faculty) and are expected to advance in rank. The affiliate sites are Children's Hospital and Clinic of Minnesota, Hennepin County Medical Center, Methodist Hospital, Regions Hospital, St. John's Hospital, St. Luke's Duluth Hospital and University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC)-Fairview.
Please review the Current Adjunct Faculty guidelines for information on the minimum qualifications for appointments and research and teaching requirements.
